US state lawmakers call on frontier AI labs to adopt a mutual pacing framework

A joint statement from NY assemblymember Alex Bores, senators Gounardes and Scott Wiener, and Illinois and Delaware lawmakers urges frontier AI companies to establish a 'Mutually Agreed Pacing Framework' so labs can coordinate on alignment and safety. The lawmakers also call for state, federal, and international action on AI, arguing frontier labs must do more.
