Per a TechCrunch scoop, NYC venture firm Betaworks, founded by John Borthwick, was the first investor to back Hugging Face, writing a $150,000 check in 2016.
At Hugging Face's current valuation, that stake could be worth $650 million — a return of over 4,000x and a landmark case for early-stage seed investing.
