Chess.com tells Musk solving chess means mapping ~10^40x more games than atoms in universe

Chess.com pushed back at Elon Musk's claim that computers will eventually solve chess like checkers: the number of possible chess games exceeds the atoms in the observable universe by roughly 40 orders of magnitude, so fully solving it would mean mapping all of them.
The spat started when Musk quote-tweeted the account, and continued over multiple replies, with Musk doubling down that ASI would find unimaginable ways to compress the search space.
