New RSA-260 Factoring Record Set, Following RSA-250's 2,700 Core-Hour Effort in 2020

Cryptographer Steve Weis highlighted a new RSA-260 factoring record by @penlume, who factored a 260-decimal-digit (roughly 862-bit) RSA challenge number. The previous RSA-250 record was set in 2020 by an academic team using CADO-NFS, an open-source implementation of the Number Field Sieve, taking 2,700 CPU-core hours. CADO-NFS handles integer factorization and discrete logarithms in finite fields and is released under LGPL.
