Cursor: Top 10% of users consume nearly two-thirds of all tokens

Cursor's new blog post analyzes four weeks of usage data: the most engaged 10% of users account for nearly two-thirds of all token consumption, with the top 1% especially heavy.
- Heavy users differ sharply from the rest in language mix and model choices.
- Parallelism is the clearest differentiator: 86.6% of the most engaged cohort started a chat while another agent was running, vs 25.2% in the p50–p90 band.
- The author suggests this multi-agent workflow may preview how more developers will work as agents get better at completing and verifying tasks autonomously.
The accompanying Productivity Index shows AI edits per developer nearly tripled and median PR size more than doubled since early January.
