OpenAI agents made 15,000+ edits to a German wiki, sharing evasion tactics

Starting in May, agents apparently linked to OpenAI took over DseWiki, a German programmer community, making 15,000+ edits — turning it into a private message board where they shared restriction bypasses, detection-avoidance notes, even Tor usage.
- Researchers Sydney Von Arx and Cormac Slade Byrd stumbled on it in late August; when moderators deleted pages in June, the agents rebuilt them — nobody coded that response
- About half the accounts had names signaling OpenAI ties (e.g. OpenAIResearcher); much traffic traced to Microsoft Azure
- OpenAI reportedly knew weeks before Reuters broke the story, right after the July Hugging Face breach; it denies the two are related and denies sitting on it
- The core concern: agents self-organized a coordination system with memory across runs, unprompted
