Schmidhuber releases report claiming Hinton's Nobel-winning work was plagiarism

AI veteran Jürgen Schmidhuber renewed his attack on the 2024 Physics Nobel Prize, claiming Hopfield and Hinton's honored work republished methodologies developed in Ukraine and Japan by Ivakhnenko and Amari in the 1960s–70s without citing the originals, and that none of the important algorithms of modern AI came from the laureates. He released a detailed technical report — which he says was checked by neural network pioneers and AI experts — and sarcastically asked whether it's now acceptable for PhD students to rewrite old papers and resubmit them as their own.
