OOMWOO: an open-source DIY robot vacuum with Raspberry Pi and 2D LiDAR hits 10k GitHub stars

tom_doerr · x · 2026-09-04

OOMWOO is an open-source robot vacuum you build yourself, combining 3D-printed hardware, Raspberry Pi, ESP32/Arduino, and an affordable 2D LiDAR. It runs ROS2/Nav2 to map your home and navigate autonomously entirely on-device, with no cloud dependency for regular use and native Home Assistant integration.

The project aims for home-appliance quality rather than a throwaway build, with fully open hardware, software, and firmware, a BOM, and step-by-step tutorials. The repo has reached about 10.2k GitHub stars; early build instructions are expected in Fall 2026.
