404 vs 400 quirk suggests OpenAI has quietly staged 'gpt-6-astra' in its API
i_dg23 · x · 2026-09-04
Developers found the OpenAI Responses API returns 404 Not Found for "gpt-6-astra" — while garbage slugs get 400s — the same signature as the known-but-unreleased 5.6 Cyber, implying the model is staged in the backend. A similar Bedrock API quirk had revealed Fable 5.1 a day before launch. An OpenAI staffer replied "y'all are clever, but don't expect this to work next time," tacitly confirming the detection logic.
