Despite controversies and the fact you still can't buy one, Figure has spent four years building a vertically integrated Physical AI stack for scaling humanoids:
- Compute: Nscale partnership for up to 100,000 NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs, starting H2 2027, $3.5B initial commitment.
- Data: Index app has 264K+ downloads across 108 countries, 44K+ weekly contributors, 16M+ uploaded videos, $15M+ paid out.
- Model: Helix 02 controls the full body from pixels — a 4-minute, 61-action kitchen sequence combining locomotion, manipulation, balance and tactile sensing; System 0 trained on 1,000+ hours of human motion.
- Hardware: Figure 03 redesigned around Helix: 5-hour runtime, 20kg payload, 1.2 m/s, palm cameras, tactile sensors, 10Gbps mmWave.
- Manufacturing: BotQ targets 12,000 robots/year, 100K in four years; 350+ Figure 03s delivered by April 2026, ramped from one robot/day to one/hour.
- Deployment: Figure 02 logged 1,250+ hours at BMW, handling 90,000+ parts across 30,000+ BMW X3s; Figure 03 is moving into sequencing and loco-manipulation, then commercial and household use.
The author frames an obvious flywheel — more compute → more human data → better Helix → more units → more deployments → more operational data → next-gen Helix — as a lens for what humanoid companies will ultimately compete on.
