Actual Computer CEO Tom Lynch argues Fable's restrictions turned into the best ad for local models. When users asked Fable for strong kernels, certain software, or reverse-engineering open source models, it would refuse and throw them to Opus. "Capability spikes being shut off in people's faces opened a lot of eyes that you want to own this capability, not rent it" — with many users turning to local models after hitting those barriers.
