fchollet: keep humans in the loop in all critical processes, even if AI could go fully autonomous
paraschopra · x · 2026-09-04
François Chollet argues we need a deliberate effort to keep humans in the loop in all critical processes across the economy and society, regardless of technical necessity. Even if AI develops the capability for advanced autonomy, we should not make it highly autonomous — maintaining control, visibility, and understanding of critical processes matters more than blindly pushing autonomy.
paraschopra agrees, noting that pursuing full autonomy without first giving people basic security is "kind of a crazy goal."
