The chatbot packed them for an 8-hour day trip, suggested simple carbs over fats because fats "take too long to digest," and the results were nearly fatal: phones and backup chargers died, one hiker blew out a knee, and night fell on them at 11,000 ft in Mud Creek Canyon with no extra layers.
