Ray Kurzweil Joins Subsense, a Startup Building Brain-Computer Interfaces via Snorted Nanoparticles

AI pioneer and Google researcher Ray Kurzweil has joined Silicon Valley startup Subsense as product and vision advisor. The four-year-old company is developing a non-surgical brain-computer interface (NanoBCI):
- Approach: biocompatible nanoparticles administered intranasally act as antennas to read and write neural signals, controlled wirelessly by a wearable headset for bidirectional stimulation and reading.
- Kurzweil says the end goal is to 'merge the smartphone with the brain,' consistent with his singularity thesis.
- The company plans to build safety and efficacy step by step in tightly controlled clinical and research settings.
