Sen. Bernie Sanders and Raúl Casar have released the text of the Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act, announced yesterday. Modeled on nuclear weapons law, it proposes up to 20 years in prison for individuals and a 'corporate death penalty' for companies. The flashpoint is the definition: superintelligence covers any AI that 'exhibits or can easily be modified to exhibit' certain capabilities — a scope critics say could sweep in today's frontier models.
