The Generative Burrito Test puts 24 image models to work recreating one real burrito photo

• Inspired by the horse-riding astronaut meme and Simon's Pelican benchmark, the author built the "Generative Burrito Test": models must recreate a real photo of a partially eaten burrito.
• One fixed prompt (cheese, sour cream, guac, lettuce, salsa, pinto beans, chicken), all generated via fal.ai with default settings — no prompt engineering, which the author calls cheating.
• 24 models tested: SD 1.5, Fast SDXL, Flux Schnell/Dev/Pro 1.1 Ultra/2 Flex, Ideogram V2/V2a/V3, SD 3.5 Large/Medium, HiDream I1, Imagen 4, Qwen Image, Bagel, Bria 3.2, Seedream V4, Wan 2.5 Preview, Hunyuan V3, Nano Banana 1 and Nano Banana Pro.
• The author expected this to be easy given ample training data, but burritos are a "weird concept" — ingredients get smushed together. Newest models (Nano Banana Pro, Seedream V4, Flux 2) do best, yet none nails the original.
