NVIDIA to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion in open-source AI push

Hugging Face CEO Clement Delangue announced an intention to join forces with NVIDIA in a $12,930,300,000 acquisition, ten years after founding the company. He argued open-source AI is at an inflection point—proven as a complement and even alternative to closed-source APIs—and that scaling further requires more compute and support, which NVIDIA committed to providing. Former Stability AI CEO Emad Mostaque added that without Hugging Face, the launch and scaling of Stable Diffusion and its successors would have been a fraction of what they were.
