The Daily Californian ran AI-detection tool Pangram across 1,000+ published works and 1 million scanned words, spanning obituaries, Substack posts, student messages, remarks and news articles.
- AI-written text was detected in every domain and nearly every genre of public correspondence.
- Nearly all positive results were published within the past year, indicating a recent, rapid shift.
- 42.1% of UC Berkeley student government resolutions passed in 2025-26 were flagged for AI use.
