Veteran Kaggle practitioner JFPuget recalls that he and Dieter were the first to pitch Hugging Face to NVIDIA's LLM tooling team years ago — first getting NVIDIA tooling to import HF models, then getting NVIDIA to publish models on HF.
He wasn't involved in the acquisition talks but calls the outcome a Christmas gift that secures both Hugging Face and open-weight AI. A side effect: Ross Wightman and the timm library now land at NVIDIA.
