OpenAI launches GPT-6 Astra, declaring a 'new era of artificial general intelligence'
BLCNYY · x · 2026-09-04
Per The Guardian, OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra — billed as 'the world's most intelligent and aligned model' — with president Greg Brockman declaring the world has entered a new era of AGI: 'I think it might be about this model.' He noted the models are now solving unsolved 100-year-old math problems while accelerating the economy and personal life. Notably, the launch came just weeks after a serious AI safety incident paused Astra's training, and days after Sam Altman dismissed AGI as an 'irrelevant marketing term.'
