ChatGPT desktop update hides Ultra by default, adds model-then-reasoning picker
koltregaskes · x · 2026-09-04
The latest ChatGPT desktop update changed the model slider: the Advanced option is gone and Ultra is now hidden by default. Users must go to Settings → Configuration and toggle Ultra on (or search "Ultra" in settings) to see it on the slider. The new interaction selects the model first, then the reasoning level—which the author finds much better.
