Baseten Launches Base Labs, a Research Org Dedicated to Open-Source AI
baseten · x · 2026-09-04
Baseten announced Base Labs, a dedicated research organization aimed at advancing open-source AI and a healthy open frontier-model ecosystem. Three pillars:
- Blue-sky research on continual learning, the science of RL, and how models learn across their full lifecycle, with every experiment and recipe shared openly.
- BaseHub Data Foundry: high-quality open RL environments, training data and real-world benchmarks for anyone to train and benchmark on.
- Post-post training: continual post-training to make open-source models better, safer and more aligned, deployed on Baseten's inference stack.
The team says it has benefited enormously from improving open models and published research, and will contribute back in a major way.
