Baseten announced Base Labs, a research organization dedicated to advancing open-source AI. Its agenda spans blue-sky research on continual learning and the science of RL, the BaseHub Data Foundry of open RL environments and benchmarks, and 'post-post training' to improve open models — with all experiments published openly. The lab is hiring and runs a 3-month Fellowship paying $15,000/month plus compute, with 3 fellows per quarter and rolling applications.
