LangChain adopts stateless MCP spec as MCP SDK downloads near 500M a month

LangChain announced support for the new stateless MCP spec: MCP support moves into the main langchain package, elicitation via interrupts, list endpoint caching, and more.
The companion post cites ecosystem data: MCP's official Tier 1 SDKs are pulling close to 500 million downloads a month, and MCP tool calls from ChatGPT users grew 98x across 2026, more than doubling within the year.
