MCP veteran launches TDQS, an open spec scoring 15,000+ tool definitions
punkpeye · reddit · 2026-09-04
punkpeye, author of awesome-mcp-servers and FastMCP, released Tool Definition Quality Score (TDQS), an open-source spec for evaluating the quality of MCP server tool definitions. Poor tool JSON definitions cause tools to be mis-selected and mis-invoked — the biggest complaint in the MCP ecosystem. TDQS is a research-based rubric clarifying what tools exist, what they do, and when/how to use them. Glama already scores 15,000+ open-source and remote MCPs with it, and tdqs.dev offers a free playground, CLI, API, and SDKs. Feedback and contributions are welcome.
