Consultant recounts week training Harvard's Opportunity Insights on agentic coding with Codex
aniketapanjwani · x · 2026-09-04
The author describes a week at Harvard training researchers at Opportunity Insights on agentic coding and building an AI strategy. The team's research differs from typical economists: large teams with split responsibilities, restricted data that can't be fed to frontier models inside RDCs, and work that extends beyond papers to public communication (e.g. Opportunity Atlas).
The approach had two parts:
- A series of agentic coding workshops centered on Codex to raise organization-wide tool familiarity, improving both productivity and the precision of internal AI discussions
- Extensive stakeholder meetings before and during the week to coordinate adoption
