Chollet: Keep humans in the loop across critical processes even if AI could go autonomous

Keras creator François Chollet argues for a deliberate effort to keep humans in the loop in all critical economic and social processes, regardless of technical necessity. Even if AI develops the capability for advanced autonomy, he says, we shouldn't deploy it as highly autonomous: control, visibility and understanding of critical processes must be maintained, and "AI as a tool in the human hand is the only form of AI worth pursuing."
