According to this WeChat post, North American server clusters of OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude) and xAI (Grok) suffered a large-scale outage within the same window, with all three providers' model APIs unavailable.
Minutes later, Zhipu ran a promo pushing users to its GLM-5.3-Flash during the night — a textbook example of seizing a rival's downtime for competitive marketing.
