Consciousness researcher Anil Seth (University of Sussex) voiced discontent with a prize for AI solving philosophical problems. Unlike maths, philosophy lacks open problems with provable solutions, he argues; such prizes juice up the narrative of cognitive outsourcing rather than amplification and feel "distastefully bandwagonny." Still, he'll happily eat a chocolate hat if Claude solves the hard problem of consciousness to general satisfaction. His interlocutor noted it's genuinely hard to find philosophy puzzles that are both computationally tractable and underexplored.
