Camera-to-blender: snap a photo, get a 3D model inside Blender in under a minute
sidahuj · x · 2026-09-03
Developer sidahuj open-sourced camera-to-blender: point your phone at a real object, take a photo, and a 3D model appears inside Blender in under a minute. The pipeline is photo → background removal → 3D generation → auto-import.
- Stack: Tripo3D API generates the models, an optional Gemini API key removes backgrounds, requires Python 3.10+ and Blender 3.0+
- Architecture: a relay server runs on the computer with Blender, a phone-friendly web app captures photos, and ngrok supplies HTTPS for phone access
- Ships with a Blender addon and web frontend; configure API keys in .env and launch with uvicorn
