According to Chinese tech outlet 智东西, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced NVIDIA has agreed to acquire Hugging Face, the "GitHub of AI", for $12.93 billion (¥87.7 billion). Founded in 2016, Hugging Face last raised a $235M Series D in 2023 at a $4.5B valuation, and now serves 18M+ developers with 3M+ models, 500K+ datasets, and 200K+ companies.
NVIDIA says Hugging Face will remain an open platform for the entire AI ecosystem: developers keep free choice of models, frameworks, clouds, and inference providers — no NVIDIA compute required — and open-weight/multi-cloud/multi-accelerator support continues.
