NVIDIA to Acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 Billion in Landmark Open-Source AI Deal
graceisford · x · 2026-09-03
Hugging Face co-founder Clement Delangue announced the company's intention to join NVIDIA in a $12,930,300,000 acquisition. Ten years after founding, he says open-source AI is at an inflection point: the community has proven it can complement and even replace closed-source APIs, but scaling further needs more compute, support, and collaboration — which Jensen Huang offered. NVIDIA committed to doubling down on its open-source contributions and strongly backing Hugging Face, which Delangue called the "King of American open-source AI."
