NVIDIA announced it has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for approximately $12.93 billion. Hugging Face hosts 3M+ models, 500K+ datasets and 1M+ apps used by over 18 million developers and 200,000 companies. NVIDIA pledged the platform will remain open: developers keep free choice of models, frameworks, clouds and inference providers, and NVIDIA compute will not be required. Hugging Face will continue supporting open-weight models and multi-cloud, multi-accelerator deployment. NVIDIA, the platform's largest contributor of open models and data (500+ models, 250+ datasets), framed the deal as scaling access to open AI.
