Nvidia has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, per The Verge.
- Hugging Face, founded in 2016 and often called the "GitHub for AI," hosts open-source models, datasets, and tools; it was last valued at $4.5 billion in 2023.
- Deal rumors surfaced August 23 when Business Insider reported a $13 billion sale exploration; The Information later said a $12.9B deal was agreed.
- The acquisition puts the world's largest AI chipmaker in control of the central open-source AI platform, extending Nvidia further up the AI stack.
