Hugging Face co-founder and CEO Clément Delangue announced the company's intention to join NVIDIA in a $12,930,300,000 acquisition. Writing on the 10th anniversary of founding the company, he said open-source AI has reached an inflection point as a complement — and even alternative — to closed-source APIs, but needs more compute, support and visibility to scale, which NVIDIA offered. NVIDIA committed to backing Hugging Face's mission while keeping the platform open, independent and compute agnostic; the founders and team are all staying on.
