Microsoft's Work Trend Index 2026 data on India shows adoption running well ahead of global averages: 32% of Indian professionals already qualify as AI frontier workers (vs 16% globally), 78% of workers say AI lets them produce things impossible a year ago, 44% of Indian leaders have aligned AI vision and implementation (vs 26% globally), and 25% of Indian organizations reward workplace reinvention (vs 13%). David Patterson highlights this as evidence that underdeveloped countries are far more AI-ready than commonly assumed.
