Nvidia reportedly pursuing a $14B Hugging Face acquisition
Reports say Nvidia is advancing a deal to acquire Hugging Face for roughly $14B, which would be one of the largest acquisitions in Nvidia's history — more than triple Hugging Face's $4.5B valuation from 2023.
Kevin Durant's 260x early bet
NBA star Kevin Durant and business partner Rich Kleiman invested $100K in Hugging Face's 2018 seed round ($4M total) and another $150K in the 2019 Series A — about $250K in all, five years before Nvidia, Google, Amazon and others joined. At a $14B exit, that stake could be worth over $65M, roughly a 260x return.
Durant's investment machine
- After joining the Warriors in 2016, Durant co-founded family office ThirtyFive Ventures, whose 100+ company portfolio spans Postmates (acquired by Uber for $2.65B), Coinbase, Robinhood, WHOOP, and OpenSea.
- His capital now runs on two tracks: 35V for tech startups, Boardroom Sports Holdings for team stakes (PSG, Philadelphia Union, Gotham FC), with Boardroom operating as a sports business media platform.
