Recursion doesn't always help: inductive tasks need end-to-end training, warns researcher

Responding to rumors of a recursive architecture (allegedly Astra), the author cautions that recursion isn't always beneficial. It helps deductive tasks like math, but for inductive tasks (e.g. image classification, where processing injects information not in the input), it must be trained end-to-end so the architecture learns nondegenerate fixed points — otherwise degenerate dynamics and overfitting arise.
