The chief economist of Sweden's blue-collar unions argues: "My fear isn't that AI will eliminate jobs. My fear is the opposite: that we won't eliminate unnecessary jobs and inefficient companies quickly enough."
Respondent Afinetheorem says this holds even more in competitive industries — "protecting jobs" is a dead end, and the North American auto industry would have fared better if plants of inefficient firms could have been used by newer, more efficient ones.
