Claude Code scheduled tasks leak claude processes: 24 leaked in 24h, dev server boot hit 10 minutes
jeffreyckwok · ghdev · 2026-09-03
A user filed a Claude Code issue (v2.1.255, macOS): after unattended scheduled-task runs finish, the underlying claude CLI process never exits.
- 24 leaked claude processes accumulated over 24 hours, each still burning 2-11% CPU
- The concurrent load pushed local Nuxt/Vite dev-server boot from 1-2 minutes to over 10 minutes (628s Nitro build), causing unrelated test-suite timeouts
- ps output shows processes spaced exactly 60 minutes apart, all fresh non-resumed sessions consistent with scheduled tasks
- The user's task script was ruled out (synchronous Node code, no open handles)
- The issue is marked duplicate, indicating a known bug
