Sharing a report by deanwball (Scholars' Stage), the author notes it's 'insane but not surprising': over two weeks of conversations across a dozen+ US government offices, multiple foreign missions in DC, and cybersecurity lawyers, a majority were unfamiliar with the HuggingFace incident, and the rest had no comment — or strategy — on the rise of self-sovereign agents.

The reposter adds that in their own government meetings, baseline AI knowledge was strikingly low — policymakers still aren't taking AI seriously.
