London's first robotaxis launch on Uber: just 15 Wayve cars, safety driver onboard

Londoners can now hail self-driving taxis for the first time, as Wayve's robotaxis were added to the Uber app Thursday.
- Only 15 modified Ford Mustangs are licensed so far, versus 100,000+ private hire vehicles in the capital; roughly 100,000 Uber users have signed up for autonomous rides.
- Cars still carry a licensed safety driver in the front seat; fully driverless approval requires a separate DVSA process unlikely this year.
