Dynamical systems view of motor cortex: preparatory activity holds movement-specific code
burny_tech · x · 2026-09-03
New work on the geometry of motor control introduces a dynamical systems view of motor cortex. Seconds before a planned movement, motor cortex already contains activity specific to that movement — the same circuit that will soon generate the commands sent to your muscles. The central questions: what is this preparatory activity doing, and why doesn't it spill out into motion?
