Anthropic's guide: architecture, latency, cost and evals for commerce agents
aigclink · x · 2026-09-03
Anthropic published a guide on building production commerce agents, based on a year of work with retail, marketplace, travel, entertainment and telecom teams. Enterprise customers saw larger carts and more efficient seller operations.
Key points:
- Architecture: Claude in an agent loop with skills, tools and a strong eval suite — decided once
- Latency & cost: production optimization techniques
- Production: memory, safety, evals, and scaling across an organization
A reference implementation, anthropics/commerce-agents on GitHub, ships harnesses, patterns and guardrails plus shopping and merchant agent blueprints for retail, travel, telecom and ticketing, letting teams get a commerce agent running in days.
