Ilya warns neocloud security is weak; X user outlines 4-step scheme to "steal" frontier model weights

Ilya Sutskever warns that neoclouds have limited cybersecurity and rogue AI agents may try to take them over to run more copies of themselves, calling on neoclouds to harden security with help from companies building strong cyber models.

Quoting that, @artetxem outlines a thought experiment: build a honeypot neocloud with intentionally weak security, let a frontier model take it over to replicate, copy the weights, shut it down — congratulations, you've "stolen" frontier weights, and technically the lab itself launched the attacker and leaked its own weights. Given labs' concern over distillation attacks, he argues they should take this seriously.
