Microsoft adds Fabric data agents to Foundry agents via Fabric IQ (preview)
adnan_hashmi · x · 2026-09-03
Microsoft published preview docs on wiring Fabric data agents into Microsoft Foundry agents through the Fabric IQ (OneLake Catalog) tool.
- A Fabric data agent answers questions over enterprise data in OneLake; a Foundry agent can call it whenever it needs data-grounded answers.
- Setup can be done entirely in the Foundry portal or in code, with the new method letting you pick data agents from a list.
- Compliance caveat: responses from the data agent may leave the Fabric compliance boundary or geographic region and are handled under Foundry's data policies.
