AI Safety Talent Nonprofit Kairos Raises $50M From Coefficient Giving, Hiring 10

Kairos, a nonprofit building talent infrastructure for AI safety, has raised $50M from Coefficient Giving to grow its team and project portfolio, with 10 open roles.
- SPAR, its part-time research fellowship, has quintupled from 100 initial mentees to 1,200+ supported and 70+ publications (accepted at ICML/NeurIPS); the Spring 2026 round drew 6,000+ applications, up from 2,400 six months earlier.
- Pathfinder, supporting university AI safety clubs, grew from 15 to 160+ organizers across 73 universities in 17 countries for Fall 2026.
- Other programs include the Global Challenges Project workshops and the Generator Residency, which received 1,500 applications for 27 spots.
The founders say programs were designed for high scalability with low variable costs.
