Gemini 3.8 Flash reverse-engineers Kerbal save files to build and land a Mun rocket

In an upcoming gaming benchmark, Google gave nunudotai early access to Gemini 3.8 Flash and tasked AI models with reaching the Mun in Kerbal Space Program. Instead of building the rocket piece by piece, 3.8 Flash reverse-engineered the spacecraft file format, wrote code to generate an optimal rocket, loaded it in, and piloted it to a smooth landing via text commands — a showcase of combined file-format analysis, codegen, and closed-loop control.
