A Reddit user reports that the thinking block has disappeared and the extended thinking toggle is gone from Claude Code for both Opus 4.6 and Opus 5. The author relied on the visible chain-of-thought to verify Claude's direction without wasting tokens, and says useful details often appear in the thinking block that never surface in the final answer — the main reason they stuck with Anthropic over switching to GPT.
