Security researcher vxunderground reports that ID verification company IDScan exposed over 153 million driver's license records from the US and Canada, likely one of the worst breaches on record.
- Known customers include Shell, AMC Theaters, DraftKings, FedEx, Hertz, Chevrolet (GM), GameStop, Caesars Entertainment, Motorola, and the US Coast Guard Academy
- The leaked data includes the license photo itself, making identity impersonation far easier and posing heightened risks to celebrities and ordinary travelers alike
- Anyone in the US who has stayed at a hotel, rented a car, or purchased alcohol or marijuana with an ID check has a high probability of being affected
